On Monday, March 31, from 7 to 8 PM on KMUD, we presented a live call-in show about Sudden Oak Death (SOD) with Yana Valachovic, County Director and Forest Advisor for UC Cooperative Extension in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. Yana spoke with ISF's Gray Shaw and Salmon Creek resident Harry Vaughn about SOD in Humboldt County. Yana is the county advisor most in touch with SOD, including its range and rate of spread; she visited Harry in 2006 when SOD first appeared on his land and ran tests on plant material gathered there.
